_The treetop protesters aimed to stop work on the dual carriageway
around Batheaston at a time when campaigns were under way across the
country over road-building projects.Work started in March 1994 and the protests came to a head in May with a march by 1,200 people at Solsbury Hill.
The road was built but then in November 1995, more than 300 road schemes were axed by the Government.

Solsbury Hill bypass protest (1994-1996)
_Solsbury Hill, near Bath where a road ,under the
guise of a bypass was being built as part of a Euro-Highway by stealth.
Undercurrents trained activists to record their own footage and make their own film of their direct action campaign. This film was released on Undercurrents Alternative News issue 2 (1995) Adrian Arbibs photograph book celebrated the protests 15 years later.
