"Since
the only filming equipment is a video camera undercurrents journalists
are highly mobile to cover breaking stories..the video succeeds in
getting otherwise overlooked images to a public that is used to getting
its news from centralised and tightly controlled sources"

Undercurrents
has been involved in media education and training
since its inception. We aim to inspire by exposing people to
alternative and independent media, and give a voice to filmmakers
whose content doesn't fit within the confines of mainstream
media.
Are you interested in alternative film, and want to get a discussion going? Get your hands on some undercurrents films, get together a group of friends and organise a screening. We also have educational resources for teachers and students alike, including the Media Activist's Handbook and a number of DVD compilations that are excellent tools for the classroom. Send us an email with your postal address, and we'll send you a catalogue. For online resources on alternative media, check out our links here. For those who are just being introduced to alternative media, we have a downloadable list of resources including books, websites, magazines, graphic novels and zines. We are available for further outreach and education collaboration with media institutions. We offer visiting lecture opportunities as well as alternative media resources; please contact us for more information. Any questions or comments? Please
